Support > Viruses

As there are virtually more then 100000 virus around, will be foolish to give any support on one particular virus. Also nowadays, you will be more concern also with Malware, Spyware, Adware and the latest threats: Rootkits

One of the symptoms you can notice when you are infected is a computer system that has become very slow. Also strange messages from unknown antivirus or antimalware informing you that your system is infected.

What we can tell you is simple:

  • Have an antivirus and have it active in memory

  • Keep it up to date ( not less then once a week )

  • Have an antimalware also loaded on your system and keep it updated

  • If you suspect to be infected: Do not panic!

  • Call for professional help

  • If able to access the Internet go to http://www.antivirus.com > Free tools for a free online scan of your pc. It is also called House call.

Also have a look which is the Virus Top Threats in your country:

Be always suspicious of strange e-mails, do not open them, delete them as soon you see them. Said that, remember also the following:

  • Viruses can arrive from people you know

  • You can get infected just by visiting a site on the net

  • Viruses can come also by disk, IRC chats and not only e-mail

  • Viruses are exploiting bugs in the Operative System (mainly Windows), so always keep your software updated.

  • Disable the Pane preview in Outlook, which forces Outlook to open the mail.

  • 97% of virus are transmitted over Internet and 3% by diskette

  • A lot of viruses are transmitted on your LAN after infecting even only one workstation

  • Have both servers and workstations protected

  • DO NOT download software from the internet even if it looks useful unless you know what you are downloading and it is from a reputable source. Free downloads sometimes are programs that hide Trojans, viruses etc.

Stay protected ! Update your antivirus and antimalware programs regularly !
